Miss Griscti’s Classroom

making parents feel apart of our classroom

Homework

Homework

Each day the students are expected to record their homework in their agendas. They will typically be required to practice their math facts and are expected to read a book on their lexile level for 20 minutes a night. Homework will be given every night except Fridays. However, Friday homework will be given if the student has not finished something in class that week.

Please note specific spelling homework will not be given, but the students will have a spelling/vocabulary test weekly. Therefore, please be studying their words nightly.

Reading

We will be going to the library during specials in order to check-out books. The students are allowed to take their books home, but please be sure they keep track of them. It is the students’ responsibility to be sure library books are turned in on time!

All the students have access to our classroom library. All the books are marked to allow the students to see what lexile level each book is. This is another resource that can assist the students in meeting their reading goals and completing their reading homework every night.

The students have been asked to keep track of their reading on a new program we’re using, Biblionasium. It is their responsibility to record this information. They are expected to read 20 minutes a night to meet the following reading requirements.

Reading Requirements:

Students are required to read 400 pages each quarter. Therefore, the students should be recording their reading by the number of pages read, at home. In addition, they are required to read a certain type of genre each wuarter and write a summary after the book is complete. Please refer to the bookmark in your child’s binder for specific genre requirements. Summaries should be written in the “Book Reviews” on Biblionasium for every completed book.

Timed Tests

The students should be timed for 6 minutes to complete each timed tests. After the 6 minutes is up, the students are expected to score their time test, record it on the Fact Fluency Homework Log, and finish the remaining problems. The students are exempt from this homework, for the 9 weeks, if they have scored a 96% or above on a timed test in school.
